Embarcadero in the good old days…

One of my many newspaper photos, shows the Embarcadero in the mid 70s. Very active with seiners everywhere, from front to back you have the Kathleen , American Queen , Atlantic Patton and the Mary Antoinette . On Finger Piers you have the Willa G and Jeannine at the fuel dock. sdtunaboats@cox.net

Embarcadero….

San Diego Embarcadero, this was the epicenter of the Tuna Fleet. Usually when a seiner was launched it spent a few days here showing off as you could say. In this photo we have the Ocean Pearl, brand new tied up directly behind Anthony’s Seafood Grotto. Two mainstays at the Embarcadero that are now sadly gone. sdtunaboats@cox.net

San Diego Bay…

One of my favorite pictures , first of all I loved seeing the seiners tied next to each other, that tells me its Christmas time and the fleet is  in for the Holidays. Also I loved the Marco Polo and Polaris, two great boats in the photo.. sdtunaboats@cox.net

Diana C..

Tuna Seiner Diana C , tied up at the Embarcadero. A very common site in the 70s and 80s was to see the seiners docked and working on their nets . Tourist would walk the docks taking photos , how I wish I had a few of those today. Anyone who wants to share info on the Diana C please do, I have very few photos of this seiner. sdtunaboats@cox.net

Carol Linda…

Just a beautiful shot of the Carol Linda. In all honesty this style Seiner was never one of my favorites. Built in 1979 by Burton Shipyard in Texas , it will always be a special photo because it was given to me by my late cousin John Cerny . Share your pictures with me, you know you have them so just send them in . sdtunaboats@cox.net
