Diana- South Pacific…

Tuna seiner Diana coming out of shipyard in Samoa. Originally launched the South Pacific in 1974 by Martinac Shipyards. Diana had a few other names but I won’t list them all. Please share your photos with us at [email protected]

Finisterre…

One of Greg Scafidi photos, pretty simple shot but I like it.  Finisterre just sitting waiting for the next trip and they made a lot. Some boats did better then others not many did better then the Finisterre .. Share your pictures with us at [email protected]

Sea Quest…

Sea Quest, what a beautiful seiner, sister ship to the Antonina C. They both were a common site on the Embarcadero. This photo was taken by my father while aboard the Proud Heritage . Built by San Diego Marine in 1970 later she was sold in the late 80’s or early 90’s and unfortunately is no longer with us, I believe it caught fire and sank. [email protected]

Chiriqui…

Love this shot and I loved this companies seiners.  Always thought the color was so unique . Chiriqui 1 , along with Granada , Portobello , Marne K,  and later Sea Chase.  If anyone has photos of these seiners I would love to see them . [email protected]

Nelson …

One of my best followers and contributors is Michael Burt. He’s my eyes down under and he sends me this photo from Nelson New Zealand yesterday . Two seiners in port having work done . Soloman Sapphire and the Koorale in the background. I know the Koorale will be in well past Christmas and into the New Year. Thank You again to Michael . [email protected]

Calypso..

Tuna seiner Calypso built in 1972 by San Diego Marine. They built a few seiners of this size but only this one with a open hull design. Very similar to Martinac, building only the South Pacific the same way. Share your pictures with us please . [email protected]

Islander…

Thank you to Robert Murphy for sending in this picture of the Islander taken back in 1973. I believe the owner was Greg Corners. These little seiners usually fished down south for tuna but some would make a trip up North off Oregon for the albacore run.

Royal Pacific…

One of my all time favorite photos the Royal Pacific. My favorite style seiner built by Martinac in 1973 and still going today under their new name Koorale. Someone out there is holding out come on and share your photos . I believe this photo was compliments of Greg Scafidi, thank you . Share yours with us at [email protected]

Nelson…

So sometimes you get photos that are great.  My 17 yr old niece is flying to Nelson, New Zealand to visit her father . I ask her to take pictures of the boat for me , She snaps this great shot from the plane on the approach to landing. I have no idea what seiner this is ? But damn I love it .
