Some seiners continue to pump out the trips. This photo was taken this past Sunday showing the Sea encounter with the Koorale and the Jeannine across the Bay. All made beautiful trips recently along with the Cape May. sdtunaboats@cox.net
Laura Ann…
Seiner Laura Ann built by Martinac in 1979, she was a big seiner holding up to 1400 tons and was sister ship to Tifaimoana. Mainly fished in Western Pacific and I believe had a name change relatively quick. Beautiful looking seiner. sdtunaboats@cox.net
Visiting your neighbor.
I guess one of the things that opened my eyes when i first went fishing was your all by yourself. Thats why its so important to always help the seiners next to you when they need help. Joe Luz taught me that after we ran 3 days the opposite direction to home to bring in a crewman when he needed help. You always help he said and i will never forgot his words , We were aboard the Caribe Star and we ran to the South Seas. In this photo help looks like its being passed on in any means necessary . sdtunaboats@cox.net
South Seas..
Seiner South Seas, ok I do know this was originally launched Mary S in 1971. I believe it turned into South Seas and ended up in Venezuela like so many other seiners. Share your pictures with us at sdtunaboats@cox.net
Ocean Pearl….
Campbells seiner Ocean Pearl , built in 1981. Had its own little unique stripe making it easy to recognize . Please share your pictures with us @ sdtunaboats@cox.net
Louise V….
Heres a seiner I truly admit I dont know a whole lot about Louise V, I’m not sure it ever fished on the Eastern Pacific I believe this seiner was only in Western Pacific. Truly the only picture I have of this seiner. Maybe someone out there can send in a few? sdtunaboats@cox.net
CVG latest update…
Here’s our latest update from Nelson New Zealand on the Captain Vincent Gann . Still looks to be weeks of work to go before she’s ready to hit the Sea. Huge Thank you as always to Michael Burt for his great photos . This photo was taken on 2-24-19 . sdtunaboats@cox.net
Campbells Shipyard…
Great shot of the old Campbells shipyard in San Diego. Can’t tell what rig that is on dry dock but for some reason I want to say it looks like one of the Zapata rigs. Campbells is now gone and in place is a Hilton hotel. Really miss the good old days. Please share your pictures with us at sdtunaboats@cox.net
Gina Anne…
Gina Anne what a seiner. First of all the fastest rig in the fleet. And second all you needed was one look and you knew what boat this was, not many seiners you could tell from afar like this one if any. Check out the bow you could of had a football game in that thing. Share your memories with us at sdtunaboats@cox.net
Maria C.J.
Nice shot of the Maria C.J I’m guessing because theres no name on the seiner. send in your favorite shots. sdtunaboats@cox.net
