6-7 wide…

Now thats a shot with seiners . Must have been sometime in the 80s or early 90s . The fleet was definitely in , someone must follow this page from Samoa that has photos. Would love to some 80s photos form Samoa. Share your memories and photos with us at sdtunaboats@cox.net

J M Martinac..

Great seiner , great name. One of the last rigs built at Martinac and it had a slight design switch with the stern engine. Also very few Martinac seiners were actually painted white , maybe a handful. Share your memories and photos at sdtunaboats@cox.net

Carol Linda…

Carol Linda doing a little net work. Does not appear to be in San Diego most likely a Western Pacific port. I believe this seiner is now fishing under Mexican flag. Send in your photos and memories to sdtunaboats@cox.net

Martinac seiners…

Martinac seiner in a middle of a set. Im guessing this is either the Marietta or the Mary Antoinette . These little Martinac seiners basically all made money . You could add the Pisces ,Anne M,  Polaris and Cabrillo that were this style seiner . Send in your photos and memories to sdtunaboats@cox.net

Grenadier…

My site has blessed me with many great memories. I have met many wonderful people from all around the world. I recently had the absolute pleasure to meet Wyatt Uhlein, Grandson of Wyatt Uhlein Jr. who owned a few seiners including the Sandra C and the Grenadier . He told me how his Grandfather named  the Grenadier after his favorite place Grenadier Island in upstate New York on Lake Ontario. And the Sandra C was named after his Grandmother Sandra. Its always great learning more about the people who worked in the fleet . Thanks for the talk Wyatt . Share your ,memories and photos with us at sdtunaboats@cox.net.

El Rey

Beautiful shot of the El Rey launched as the King Oscar in 1973. At the time this seiner was under Columbia flag. Still looks great.  sdtunaboats@cox.net

Samoa…

Some seiners continue to pump out the trips. This photo was taken this past Sunday showing the Sea encounter with the Koorale and the Jeannine across the Bay. All made beautiful trips recently along with the Cape May. sdtunaboats@cox.net

Laura Ann…

Seiner Laura Ann built by Martinac in 1979, she was a big seiner holding up to 1400 tons and was sister ship to Tifaimoana. Mainly fished in Western Pacific and I believe had a name change relatively quick. Beautiful looking seiner. sdtunaboats@cox.net

Visiting your neighbor.

I guess one of the things that opened my eyes when i first went fishing was your all by yourself. Thats why its so important to always help the seiners next to you when they need help. Joe Luz taught me that after we ran 3 days the opposite direction to home to bring in a crewman when he needed help. You always help he said and i will never forgot his words , We were aboard the Caribe Star and we ran to the South Seas. In this photo help looks like its being passed on in any means necessary . sdtunaboats@cox.net

South Seas..

Seiner South Seas, ok I do know this was originally launched Mary S in 1971. I believe it turned into South Seas and ended up in Venezuela like so many other seiners. Share your pictures with us at sdtunaboats@cox.net
