  1. Some code-group rigs in this time at the Van Camp/Ralston Purina dock, which I think was sold to Tri-Union Seafoods in 1988. Were next up to unload (Jeannine). Photo mid 80's, from the Pago Pago Aerial Tramway. Just another cool thing to do on the island that day, between standing watches.

  2. In the 80’s, there was an American gal named Jeanne that lived in Samoa & she worked for a company that sold parts related to these boats. One day she needed to get onto the 2nd or 3rd boat & as she attempted to jump on into it, as the current brought them together as close as can be, she slipped, fell in between both & got crushed. She somehow miraculously survived once she was extracted out of the water & survived long enough to be flown to Honolulu for more advanced treatment. There were only 2 flights a week out of Samoa back then, so the fact that she hung in that long was another miracle. I always wondered if she made a full recovery or if she succumbed to the injuries.

And that aerial tram ride was really neat! It stopped operating around 1990.
