Valiant….

Hi,
    Valiant (255447) was built in 1948 by Martinac as the Calmar for California marine Cannery. That was the cannery next to Harbor boat on Terminal island. She had a 850 hp Enterprise and carried about 180 tons. Some who owned and ran her was Joseph C Rogers, Manual Andrade, and Frank (Champ) Brenna Jr.

Betty C , Sinks..

We lost another seiner. The Tuna Boat Betty C caught fire and sank . This seiner was originally named the South Pacific when she was in San Diego. The Betty C , and its 21 member crew went into the skiff before being rescued by the Cape Ferrat . The crew was being transported to Samoa. Thank God no injuries were reported . Sdtunaboats@cox.net
